cross cultures

This is what 4 am looks like

on lighting designers

so I was thinking...

good Lighting designers are kind of like the actors you never see on stage. you could do a show without a set. you could do a show without costumes. but if you do a show without light...
light motivates, sets the tone and the mood and controls the focus.

and much like a performance from an actor, the light on stage will never be the same twice. and once its done. it could never be recreated exactly the same.

screw this shit.

loosing what is most important

so its the end of the semester. yes I know. and everyone is very stressed out trying to fnish off everything that needs to be turned in and whatnot.
I am no exception to that.
Also I would like to point out that yes I have learned quite a bit since I came to this school 3 years ago.
Moving lights, The Ion, vectorworks, Isadora, Hog Vision.
these are all things I have learnt about and my skills have increased. but along the way my passion was lost.
I don't know why. perhaps it was the unreasonably long hours. the lack of sleep, working with dictator directors. or perhaps it was being forced on to three shows a semester while still being expected to complete my assignments on time. It has reached a point were I have no desire to set foot in a theatre. once i get my paper, this degree is going to be as terminal as it suggests. what i used to love has been striped from me, the reason I gave up my life back in montreal, and moved across the country is no longer valid. Even now after the fun that was slotin the small ember that was kindled was crushed when i was forced on to three shows next semester.
my spirit is crushed
my passion is dead
and I know i am not the only one who feels that way right now
I have tried to make it better, I have tried to find it again, but i fear it is lost forever.

video instalation

Prepping for this final video project.
I am very pleased with the way it has turned out, but it seems that the triggers I have set up arent always working
the Idea behind it is to be affected by the people around the installation.
IE. when it is loud lots of stuff happens on the tvs
when it is quiet it goes to a test pattern.
also Every 20 mins it will go to a commercial break
Its mostly working.
this is the last music video that will be in the project.

I know its a commercial but...

the Video is Good
and the song is amazing

seconds of beauty

so I just found out about this video competition
Aperently the point of the competition is to capture a moment of beauty in a second.
I have decided to make a few submissions myself
perhaps i will post them later.
Hey if i am feeling ambitious i might even make a sad piano compilation like this.

Slotin opens Sad to see it go

Slotin oppened
I think it was the most fun I have had on a production in a long time. Lord knows I was about ready to pack it in after the last show. now i feel renewed, the show was good, It was silly and I worked very hard on it. and i think lots of that had to do with the fact that it was so fun to work on.
I think if this had been a bad experience it probably would have resulted in me quiting school all together.

but that would be quite foolish seeing as how i am so close to the end and such.

what has been inspiring me latley

normaly I bounce off the people in my life
right now theres no one in my life that is that kind of important.
you know like a muse or whatever.
now it seems the absence of that person is what is inspiring me.
so here are some songs that i am in to right now, music thats making me want to keep doing stuff.
like you know breathing and whatever.

sombody that i used to know

this song just kind of kills me a little

Slotin

still having loads of fun with Slotin
normally at this point the other shoe drops, but i feel like there has been no real pressure.
the whole experience has just been fun.
Q2Q is coming up and I think there might be lots of cues, but I dont think the day is going to be a long day, kind of like all the other shows I have worked on here.

fun with shadows

So working on Slotin has kind of rekindled my love of theatre.
I like the collaborative feel. I feel like I have an actual input on this show, and we are doing some really fun stuff
Ebbie is also a great director to work with.
This reminds me of what it was like to work back in montreal on Ubu and all the other shows i did
anyhow here is a shot of some of the stuff we are doing in the show

bustin out some sweet videos

So I have been playing with time lapse videos recently.
lots of fun to make these, but they take quite a long time to make

haloween fun

so I was supposed to make a video for craigs band the tulsa skull swingers.
unfortunately the venue didnt have the projectors set up, so we never got a chance to run the video.

a brief moment of joy

Life isn't that great, but sometimes you get a chance to experience something wonderful.
however once its gone you cant cling on to the Hope,
Its better to let hope die and live with the memories of the happiness than it is to cling on to false hope, and wallow in sadness

trying to take more photos

So i have been trying to take more photos, but on a fairly regular basis I only have my phone with me, although it seems that the phone has become the new medium for photographers and film makers.
Hell the new iphone is supposed to have an 8mp camera or something crazy like that.
I remember my first digital camera was only 3mp, but still took some good photos
the only thing that bothers me about the phone camera is you don't have many options for image control.

pick which one was done with my phone

Deathcab again

So I got a chance to see deathcab for cutie again.
It was kind of awesome. last time i saw them I was in a bit of a funk, what with the breakup being all fresh and whatnot.
I am still kind of broken about the break up, but I am definitely in a better place now than I was in August.
sort of
anyhow. the show was kind of spectacular, I love seeing shows in open air theaters, just something so cool about having the stars and the moon adding to the lighting.
anyhow. here's a video
sad and beautiful at the same time

I love having the opportunity to instill the sense of wonder and awe in to the people I am teaching. because it reminds me that sometimes in the right light at the right time everything can be beautiful

more projection maping

so heres another one,
I love the Idea of using a 3d surface.

This sort of stuff inspires me to do more and learn more with Isadora
I have been trying to figure it out by myself, but I can only imagine how much i would benefit from an actual teacher teaching me Isadora

projections on my mind

I might have put this up before, but its still cool.
I need to learn how to do this sort of thing, as I am starting to get kind of sick of Lighting design

SMD

I think i mentioned these guys before, they kind of rocked FYF here is another video of them doing their thing, I am kind of impressed by the designers timing with the LED panels

tech weekend

110 cues done in one night and I am getting shit on. Its on nights like tonight that I think I might be in the wrong business. Or at least working with the wrong people.
on top of that I am not a big fan of being insulted and told I am stupid. since my intuition is good, and my ideas are good.
If the director was just willing to listen to reason. then perhaps we would have gotten to cue 120 or even 130 by the end of the night.
but unfortunatly that was not the case.

I just need to keep telling myself that there are people out there who still love the theatre and make it a fun place to work. perhaps that will keep me in this field.
if not well there are other options i can look in to right?
an MFA in theatrical lighting design could get me Jobs not in theatre right...

Cuing the love song

Paper tech today and I feel like things have gotten a bit out of hand. The Director wants to over cue the show. It’s a bizarre contrast, seing as how she will turn around and say one light can be so dramamtic then she wants 12 cues on the first page.
Although ii agree this is a cue heavy show, I don’t think it needs as many as she does, I tired to argue with her, but she refuses to listen to reason. I think she doesn’t need designers so much as she needs programmers who come up with good ideas from time to time.

Rehersals

Watching rehersal today I realize that there are probably going to be lots of focus shifts, although I like the idea of having lots of shadows cast

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

light looks

Got some good advice from my director today, Most of the looks I made were too big. Sometimes the best amount of light on stage is just one light. Rather than focus on filling the stage for these looks, its better to build an idea and a feeling.

Sunday, September 11, 2011

FYF

So i got to go to FYF again this year, and I must say i was prety pleased with the lineup.
But again i was super disappointed with the lighting.
They got a company called visions to do the stage and lights. now the set up they had on the stages was somthing awesome.  at least 20 moving lights per stage and about 20 led pars per stage.
but the people who ran the show were just lazy as shit.
I was watching yhat on the small stage and this is how it went
The first thing that bugged me was the lights were all over the screen. secondly the bands theme was black and white and he was just throwing up stupid color chases. oh and all the lights were pretty much doing the same thing.
this i think was probably the worst stage to watch.
the other three stages were a bit better but not by much

although this moment was kind of magical
It wasnt untill Simian mobile disco hit the stage with their own lighting designer that i was really wowed by what i saw
Yeah, the guy they had has clearly worked with them before as he had a good feel for the whole performance, and made changes with the music, as opposed to Randomly
So in short FYF great show cool new music, but terrible lights

I made a Discovery today

One day i will face adversity so preposterous that those who came before could not even conceive of them. but its thanks to the combined efforts of Arthur Kilkelly and Jocelyn Macleod that i can face them. and thanks to them i know i will pull through, no matter how difficult it seems at the time my family is always there for me, and that in it self is enough to keep me going

Death cab for cutie show at the Greek

So despite being , very tight on cash i decided to splurge and see the Death Cab For Cutie. All in all it probably cost me about 60$ I am sure i can sell a few games to make up the loss.
And it was totally worth it.
The more i think about it, the more I realize Material wealth isn't what is going to make you happy in the long run, when you have a chance to see something you like on the stage or on the screen, those moments are worth more than any collection. and as much as it would be nice to have a fancy home, I would rather a modest home and a chance to travel and experience new and fun things every year, but hey to each their own right?
anyhow, back to the concert. It was very cool, I love death Cabs sound, despite the fact that something melancholy is probably not the best idea right now, but still it put me in a good place, so it was worth it.
The set up was something Impressive. they had 5 12 foot LED panels behind the band, that were used to play some sceensaver esq videos, but they all fit with the songs so I cant complain.
The light set up was also very impressive. because all these LED panels were surrounded with LED moving lights. and because the panels were slatted they had lights behind them to make for some cool effects. For the big numbers the screens were very active, then when they slowed things down for songs like "I will follow you in to the dark" it became very simple. the lights closed in and brought everything down to that pace.
I think overall the design was very successful. It worked well with the band, and made the show Absolutely fucking spectacular.
anyhow ,here are some pics and a vid, excuse the shitty quality it was taken on my phone.

Note to self

Frightened rabbit should be listened too

It has been rough this past month

Hey I made this post, it was super long and meloncholy, but for some reason when I post in chrome it wont actualy post to my blog.

either way.
This past month Has been super rough, what with the breakup and all that. I have to move, and there are so many other problems. the worst part is, she didnt even give me a chance to discuss the reasons with her. its like it was over in her mind long before she even botthered to contact me.
So basicly I had to watch my whole life fall apart and loose the woman I love, and there was nothing I could do to fix it.
worst feeling in the world, and I would not wish that on anyone.
I have been working on the two Cal rep plays though and its been a bit of a boon to get my mind off things, but it is still very difficult to concentrate, as my mind is constantly asking questions that i cant answer and the only person that can is up in the mountains and doesn't have a phone that works, So i guess I am forced to wait until she returns from Camp, and try to get some answers then, and I am sure even if i tried to contact her right now, it would probably make things worse. so all i can do is sit and wait. Stew in my thoughts and hope for the best.
thats is what my month has been like.
ah well by the time she gets back and if she wants to talk to me, school will be back up and rolling so I will have ample distractions to keep me from falling in to deeper despair.
Then Oppenhiemer will get in to full swing, and then it will be october. and then I will get in to Louis slotin sonnata then it will be thanksgiving, and the semester will be almost over.
If i keep myself distracted by work, this semester will breeze on by. and I will probably be much better off.

anyhow, here is some pics of the set. its going to be very cool. but sadly there is water in the set so i cant put lights under it (which would have been awesome!)

A recap of the past two years.

So just to let you all know what I am going through.

2010 was an awesome year. I got to go to norway, I designed some really cool shows Including the Drag show. I made a whole bunch of new friends. and Got to go to vegas, where I discovered what I truly want to focus on as a designer, and for a career (Hint its not lighting design). I got to teach a class, and I met the woman of my dreams. she was cute smart, funny, down to earth, and she was as in love with me as I was with her. Everything was looking good, life had a glow to it, and I could not be defeated.

2011, has not been as kind to me. so to start of my desktop got fried, our bathroom flooded, right when i was moving in. then when school started if was put on too many production assignments. which i knew would drastically affect my school performance. but despite my requests I could not get out of them. then my bike got stolen, Then my dad had a heart attack, then my mom was forced to move (which caused some stupid family fights), then my Uncle had a heart attack. this was all in the first 4 months. at the end of the semester, I was surprised with a final assignment, that i wasn't able to complete mainly due to the all the work i had to put in on the productions. after the semester ended, we had another flood, and got overcharged on a car rental. Throughout this whole time. Holly and I were together and Happy we were helping each other through the tough times we were both having.(I dont think i would have survived the semester if it wasnt for her.)

Then summer rolls around. I have a job in Colorado. she has a job at a summer camp in big bear.
we go our separate ways, but its only for a few months, and we both know soon we will be back in each-others arms and happy.
after a month in Colorado my contract is up, but I haven't heard from Holly in 2 weeks. I get on a plane to go back to Montreal to visit friends and family. the flight takes almost 24 hours.
after being in Montreal i get the We need to talk text message from Holly.
however after sending that message i don't hear from her. so I go ahead with my plan and rent the car, perhaps we can talk up at her camp.
as I am on my way up to the camp i get a call from her saying I shouldn't have rented the car. and i cant talk to her. but she will be on fb chat later to explain everything.
so basically
Out of the Blue she decided I was making her fat and lazy and its not going to work because she is too active to date a fat and lazy guy(seriously that's the closest i got to an explanation)
although we never actually talked.
So i wasted 200$ on a rental, and now i need to find a new place to live, before September. unfortunately, i don't get my loan until September. so I am probably going to be homeless for most of September.
and to make matters worse, well end of September is when my show opens, so for the most part of sept, i am not even going to have enough time to look for a place. and i cant afford
rent/ deposit/ moving expenses and eating, so looking for a place right now seems kind of pointless. so essentially, i will be couch surfing until October. you know. mid semester. when my next show is about to begin...
so basically, things are going to suck until the end of November, unless some sort of divine intervention occurs i will probably be homeless and couch surfing for 2 months.
And that is 2011 for me

I look forward to 2012, because Seriously i dont think it could get much worse.

anyhow this was just a rant. Im pretty depressed right now, and i find writing about it at least makes me feel a little better.

done with central

Opening night has come and gone.
It didnt crash!
also I made some prety cool friends and contacts up here, but I am going to be glad to see this place go. as much as it was fun when i was working on the show. the two weeks i stayed up here between the 1st tech day and the actual tech week were prety borring. I had a chance to observe tech of the other shows, but for the most part i was just working on the photoshop stuff and missing Holly. If I could have don things diffrently well, I would have booked a flight back to LB and returned once i needed to be back. then I could have at least not been stuck in an giant crepy lonley house. and I could have seen Holly at least once before i had to be back.and but hopefully this will spawn some new work for me back in LA, and perhaps in new york after i graduate.

Ah well hindsight is always 20/20 I did a good job, and after i get a week in mtl I will be back in LB and driving up to see the Love of my life.  Just hope shes managed to survive up there after not seeing me for a month.

Friday, July 8, 2011

we fixed it!

so after making the images much smaller (the advice finaly came from tech support) we ran the show through three times and no crashes!

then we tried to crash it and it wouldnt!
so as a reminder the projected image doesn't have to be as big as i thought it would. we can work fine with smaller images, and they still come out at a very good resolution.
also my picture is still in the show.
heres me as a dead body
also This is the phot at its original size, so now you get an idea of how big the image really needs to be. I think with a Hippotizer you could use much higher rez images to get a much cleaner crisper image, but in all these photos clean and crisp is not what we were looking for, and not somthing Isadora could handle
anyhow tomorrow night is opening night
hope it doesn't crash tomorrow

Thursday, July 7, 2011

Preview tonight

The preview was tonight. It was going smoothly, that is until it crashed at the same spot, well not eaxctly the same spot, but we have discovered two problems, and the way we are fixing them is by preloading the images in the previous cue so the pictures dont jump as much on the shorter fades, but the crashing problem is still a mystery.

Tomorrow we have some time before they change over for the other operas, and we will see if our plan works to fix everything.
Hopefully all goes well. if not, well i think some images might get cut. which kind of sucks because I worked very hard on them.
this is what our server looks like now
The envelope generators are what preload the Image to avoid the jerkyness.
Still looks like a circut board, which i think is cool, i used to play with those do it yourself circuit boards when i was a kid. brings back memories

In other news, got a chance to text Holly she still loves me!, but well i cant really talk to her until next week, when i am back in mtl, and shes worried shes going to get fired if she gets caught texting me

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

the mountains

Still no word from the guys at isadora.
But other than the crashes the rest of the show is looking awesome. I am really proud of all the work I have done so far.

Also went for a hike up the mountains today. here's some photos

stupid technology

so we still haven't managed to have a run without Isadora crashing, it seems to be the same file every time, and tomorrow we don't have time to work during the day. everything else seems to have progressed nicely, its all looking good so far, but I am super worried about the whole crashing thing.

I think If i make the images even smaller it shouldn't be a problem. I sent the bug report in to the Isadora guys and hopefully they will get back to me by tomorrow.

Holly was online tonight, but instead of talking to me she decided to go in to town with the rest of her friends. she said she would come back online but she never did.
Normally in this kind of situation i would think somethings up, but i am sure she still loves me and nothing bad is happening. besides just yesterday she sent me a text saying she loved me and misses me.
but still, not cool. now i wont be able to talk to her for another week.

Monday, July 4, 2011

4th of July

nice day, got to sleep in.
worked on some of the photos making them smaller to see if that will help with the problem..
then Fireworks

its the little things

Still having the same problems with the crashing.
also no matter how hard we try I cant get rid of the little bright line in the center of the screen. If only we had gone with one projector instead of 2, ah well I will know for next time.

I cant wait to actulay see the show, I have only seen it from the monitor up in the projections loft, but it looks cool, 7 deadly sins i think is going to be very cool.

day off tomorrow. hope i get a chance to speak to Holly, I really miss her, and I haven't received a letter or spoken to her in what feels like for ever, I wonder if shes getting my letters.

The wonders of Isadora / the problem with Isadora

So i have been working with Isadora  for a little over 2 months now, and i can honestly say i have fallen in love with her. for those of you who don't want to bother with the link Isadora is a media control device that is very cheap, and extremely versatile. In fact it is so versatile every show that is created in Isadora is going to be different. and anyone who uses Iss has to basically build their media playback device from scratch.
This all makes perfect sense I swear

And to make maters awesome the creator of this program is always willing to help out anyone who is using it.
In fact he made a custom component to the server just for a problem i was experiencing.
to me thats one of the biggest selling points of this software. (seriously Mark Coniglio If I ever meet you in person I owe you a beer or two)
The other big plus is the program offers the user a huge amount of creativity in just the creation of the player. everything can be customized, and if the programmer doesnt find the right "actor" to do what he needs he can create it.
that is if he knows how to program...
so that brings me to the problems with Isadora
now keep in mind i have only been using Iss for a few months and that was with a specific goal in mind.
so everything i say has a bit of a production bias to it.
so the goal was to trigger cues in Isadora via an ETC Ion. seems simple enough, the Ion can trigger cues via midi dmx or artnet.
Isadora can receive information via Midi and network connections...  the Ion can send signals via midi. simple?
no
Isadora communicates in midi notes the Ion does not
so we upgrade to dmx to usb, simple, the mac using isadora does not like the dmx to usb system we got...
so were does that leave us, well  that leaves us in a rough spot. now the solution we ended up with is having it run by an operator.
now i know many other people have managed to make isadora run via control console, (another thing that makes isadora awesome is the other users often share ideas and custom bits they have made)
but we could not, so in that respect it didn't do exactly what I wanted it to. Granted if i had a bit more time and a bit more programming experience i could have created something to make the communication happen, but I did not, so I had to work with what i had.

so the downside to Isadora is it has some difficulty communicating with control consoles. but this is a problem that is known to the creator and I am sure we will see this feature in the future.

as it stands Isadora is giving me flexibility to experiment and be creative with projections, and it is an amazing pice of software for the price tag.

Happy Canada day

Happy canada day everyone

I'm in tech. :(

and things aren't going as well as they should. Isadora has been crashing alot lately and we are trying everything within our power to fix it, but the tech support has not gotten back to us yet.
Isadora is a bit of a pain, because its entirly user created, so if you are still kind of new to the whole program (only had it for the past 5 months) it can be quite difficult. also there is a bit of a learning curve.
I cant wait to see how good i am with it by next year though.

In other news I haven't heard from Holly in almost a week, this is kind of sad, I hope nothing is wrong.

what the photos will be

so as promised here is what the photo looks like now.
not bad eh?
as i explained in an earlyer blog
we are going for a very gritty film noire style look.
cant wait to see them on the big screen.

photo shoot for projections!

Ok, so its time to get back to my show.
Cameron is back and we had the photoshoot today!
the models were awesome, and the photos were downright disturbing
take a look.
yeah pretty Gross eh? this was one of the tame ones.
well tomorrow we are going to be working on these images to make them in to what they are supposed to be for the show. I will post the fixed version tomorrow.

Saturday, June 25, 2011

night shots

the other night I took a walk up the hill,
Iwas feeling rather lonley and I hadnt heard from Holly for a bit.
these past few weeks have been rather difficult. and the loneliness is starting to crush at my soul just a bit. I know Holly is having an amazing time, I just wish I could talk to her more. I trust her and I love her, and I know that our love is not something she is going to give up on so quickly. its just difficult, being so far away. but perhaps this will strengthen our love. but still I am having doubts that it was the right choice, i think only for the level of distraction its causing me, Its difficult to work, when you just cant stop thinking about the girl of your dreams, but I have to push on. less than a month before i am back in her arms. and then only a month before shes back home!

Observing tec

This is my first update from my phone, how fun

I am watching the tech run of amidigi the set is quite stunning and intricate although it gives me a bit of a claustrophobic feeling. David is doing an interesting backlight thing with a very orange light I will have to remember to ask him the colour he is using

posted from colorado

what i love about being in the middle of nowhere is it gives you time to think, the downside is you might go a bit stir crazy.
I think if i ever do the central city thing again, i will need a car.

I made an interesting discovery on the internet today. i found this http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/80beats/2011/06/22/new-camera-lets-you-focus-photos-after-the-fact/

seems kind of interesting, if you read further you will note that the software that comes with the camera can be used to transform the image to 3D.
although its not without hiccups I think this technology can have a huge application on media in the theatre,
but it will probably makes some lazy photographers

Gobos

So we had an Issue with the gobos we ordered. (I created the Images out of a photo shoot i did ,by filling my apt with balloons)
when we got them the color was really off, but the people who made the gobos fixed it and sent us some new ones. they look much better, but i think the color is still a bit off in the letters

exploring in my free time

So I wandered up to an abandoned town the other day.
It was fun, I also explored down an old river, and found an abandoned mine.

I wonder if its safe to just wander around these mountains like i do, but well its fun, heres some pics

a day of tech

So we had our one day of tech, we managed to get a bit done, but it seems kind of pointless, we dont get another chance in the theatre untill the end of the month. I understand that this is how things get scheduled, but I am sure theres got to be a better way.
I honestly think when we get back we are probably going to change allot, plus right now we don't even have all the photos we are using.
then again we did get a good chunk of the media server built.
Using Isadora is a bit of a pain, as it doesnt do exactly what we want it to right now. it turns out we have to program the code to make it do what we need it to do. but lucky for me i was able to find a guy who had the same problem and he already had the code. we tweeked it a bit, and volia!
there it is projecting on to a very curved surface!

Central

So far its a nice place, Albeit the place i am staying at is creepy.
the Crew is prety cool, and we have managed to get the media stuff up and running, which is sweet.
but I am having trouble with Isadora. Its not exactly doing what i want it to, but i still need to explore it more

In other news, even though i am so very far away from the love of my life, I am still able to talk to her lots.
I am sure however that will change once campers actually show up at her camp. She seems like shes having a good time, but i really miss her. part of me is beginning to doubt that spending the summer apart was a good choice, but I am sure I am just homesick

Central city

so I made it to central city Colorado, I am the video guy for the third show of the opera and i have to say I am quite nervous. this week is going to be make it or break it time. and i have untill Tuesday to get it all sorted out.
then on Wednesday I  think i am going to grab my camera and pick a direction and walk for a while, hopefully i will come upon an abandoned mine or something cool like that. should make for some good photos.
or i get horribly lost.
either way its going to be an adventure

holly is gone now... but its only a few months.

So holly has left for camp, we have had a pretty rough week what with the flood and all, but I am sure shes going to have a great time at camp. its so weird when you think about it, My girlfriend a college graduate is going to be a camp counselor.
either way, I miss her deeply, and i wish i could have gone with her, just because i don't know how i am going to survive the next few months without her.
despite the fact that I am very sad about not being able to see her for the next month. I am also glad for her. this camp seems like a unique experience, and shes going to get a chance to meet some fun new people and hopefully makes some good connections. also this should help with our goal of starting that farm camp we've been talking about. also it will be nice for her to be active and having fun 24/7 especially after how rough our last semester was. while shes up at the camp she wont have to stress or worry about any of the shitty real life things and she will just get to concentrate on having fun and becoming a better teacher. so all in all a good experience for her.
then once shes back, I only have 9 months left in this place, and we can go off to Dublin to get her masters degree.
its going to be great.
just got to get through the next few months.

sometimes we fill the apt with baloons

So I am was working on these glass gobos for central city, and the designer wanted it to look like a room was filled with balloons, well after looking online for somthing, I decided to fill the apt with baloons and just take the photos myself and shop them to be what she needed.
and of course with an awesome silly girl like holly she was more than willing to help me with the fun.

getting the hang of Isadora

I have run through a good chunk of the tutorials so far. Its a pretty awesome program, and gives the user lots of control over what is happening on the screen.

Congradulations my Dovetail

I am so happy for you Holly, I know this summer is going to be difficult with both of us being gone, but I look forward to the next year together, and the wonderful love we share.
I am so proud of you, and cant wait until I am standing in that same spot with those robes on, the future for us has never looked so bright.
werevever we end up afterwards i know its going to be amazing, because i know you will be by my side.

power failure at 4:00 am

so we lost power in our buiding last night, at around 4 am.
I decided to take the opertunity to get a cool shot of Holly standing in the hall back lit by the emergency lights.
