There are two kinds of light - the glow that illumines, and the glare that obscures.
that being said, its good to illuminate the stage but if you go overboard you will probably overshadow the story trying to be told.

9 parts of desire opened this weekend. the scenic elements and lighting were well matched with the emotion of the piece but i had a difficult time believing the actresses.
since i have some time. this weeks entries will be reviews on the last three shows of the semester.

A Little Night Music

I think what i like best about this musical is the tempo of the music.
its all done in a waltz, and it must have been very challenging for the orchestra to perform, because of the way some songs merge in to each other

A quick observation, it has been an incredibly shitty month, and its only week 2, and on top of that, i got shit on in class and in a production meeting.
for pool of bethesda i had an idea, but it got shot down. i dont mind, as the director had a diffrent vision for this show, however what she wants me to do, i dont think i can do in a week.
basically she wants a feature film.
I dont think i am able to get this film together since i am stuck in tech for Desire.
well thats not true, i will get the film done, but it wont be my best work, and on top of that my school work, wont be my best either.
ah well i did ask to work on only media this semester, because i was sick of being bogged down with work and tired of not giving my best, and despite that i still get put on 2 other productions, and when i plea my case i get shut down. so whats going to happen, well another semester of not my best work. but hey its just grades right.

so i need to read the history boys and listen to a little night music all before tuesday.
oh yeah
and i am in tech for 9 parts of desire all week and weekend, from 9 am to 11:00 pm.
so i need a clone
i never though grad school would be easy, honestly would it be grad school if it was?
oh and did i forget i need to have some videos ready for the show i am working on in april

and i need to find some time to learn the media server i am working with this summer..

I think the only problem i had with the show was there was not enough color...
the performance was solid
but i feel for the musical numbers need a bit more color.
some were good, but i think the big ones needed a bit more color they were all too blue for me

i have been slacking on the updates

it seems that time to post in this Blog is scarce these days, what with the amount of time i need to apply to school, and my desire to maintain my relationship with my significant other.
but i promise i will try to update more often. again.

on that note let me speak briefly on what i have learned this past week.

when certain people are stressed out, they will take out their stress on you, if you misstep even slightly. and when people with that personality trait are put with similar people then it will make the misplaced aggression even worse.
these people have a problem, but its not mine.
but if you are one of these people, and you choose a career in theatre, i believe you might have made a foolish mistake, because during tech week you will get pissed off at people for no reason, and then those people will never want to work with you again, and they will tell their friends, and they will tell their friends etc etc...
and for some people an "im sorry im stressed" just doesn't cut it the 5th and 6th time.

and now thats out of my system.
