more projection maping

so heres another one,
I love the Idea of using a 3d surface.

This sort of stuff inspires me to do more and learn more with Isadora
I have been trying to figure it out by myself, but I can only imagine how much i would benefit from an actual teacher teaching me Isadora

projections on my mind

I might have put this up before, but its still cool.
I need to learn how to do this sort of thing, as I am starting to get kind of sick of Lighting design

tech weekend

110 cues done in one night and I am getting shit on. Its on nights like tonight that I think I might be in the wrong business. Or at least working with the wrong people.
on top of that I am not a big fan of being insulted and told I am stupid. since my intuition is good, and my ideas are good.
If the director was just willing to listen to reason. then perhaps we would have gotten to cue 120 or even 130 by the end of the night.
but unfortunatly that was not the case.

I just need to keep telling myself that there are people out there who still love the theatre and make it a fun place to work. perhaps that will keep me in this field.
if not well there are other options i can look in to right?
an MFA in theatrical lighting design could get me Jobs not in theatre right...

Cuing the love song

Paper tech today and I feel like things have gotten a bit out of hand. The Director wants to over cue the show. It’s a bizarre contrast, seing as how she will turn around and say one light can be so dramamtic then she wants 12 cues on the first page.
Although ii agree this is a cue heavy show, I don’t think it needs as many as she does, I tired to argue with her, but she refuses to listen to reason. I think she doesn’t need designers so much as she needs programmers who come up with good ideas from time to time.

Rehersals

Watching rehersal today I realize that there are probably going to be lots of focus shifts, although I like the idea of having lots of shadows cast

light looks

Got some good advice from my director today, Most of the looks I made were too big. Sometimes the best amount of light on stage is just one light. Rather than focus on filling the stage for these looks, its better to build an idea and a feeling.

FYF

So i got to go to FYF again this year, and I must say i was prety pleased with the lineup.
But again i was super disappointed with the lighting.
They got a company called visions to do the stage and lights. now the set up they had on the stages was somthing awesome.  at least 20 moving lights per stage and about 20 led pars per stage.
but the people who ran the show were just lazy as shit.
I was watching yhat on the small stage and this is how it went
The first thing that bugged me was the lights were all over the screen. secondly the bands theme was black and white and he was just throwing up stupid color chases. oh and all the lights were pretty much doing the same thing.
this i think was probably the worst stage to watch.
the other three stages were a bit better but not by much

although this moment was kind of magical
It wasnt untill Simian mobile disco hit the stage with their own lighting designer that i was really wowed by what i saw
Yeah, the guy they had has clearly worked with them before as he had a good feel for the whole performance, and made changes with the music, as opposed to Randomly
So in short FYF great show cool new music, but terrible lights
