Dont stop me / The Gun is good

so i just bought the new orbital single (for those of you who dont know, Orbital is one of my favorite bands) and i must say i am a bit disappointed. Perhaps i had set my expectations a bit too high. i mean they are one of my favorite bands, and they are also the godfathers of techno, and there was about a 5 year hiatus.
so yes i expected gold, and i think what i got was silver, it was nicely polished, but it was still silver.

so let me explain.
Orbital has released two singles; dont stop me, and the gun is good. hopefully they will be releasing a full album soon and i will be able to hear it in all its glory, but untill then i have these two tracks as a bit of a teaser (i hope). I fully believe that these two tracks will take Place in the Album and hearing them out of context is perhaps why i do not enjoy them as much. (one thing i love about later Orbital albums is their fluidity )

lets start with dont stop me. its good, but i feel it borrows a bit to much from the Daft punks Robot rock style intro, it builds in to a very orbital style sound(You know it when you hear it) but one thing that deters me from this track is there is no real crescendo, the song builds up, Bridges, then Builds up, but i feel like it cuts short at the end.

how about the gun is good? Now this is very orbital, right down to the fluid beats and the Quotes from the mostly obscure movie(Time bandits) although the movies are getting a bit less obscure(Or perhaps i am become more of a film nerd?) but don't hold that against them.
and this track really Grew on me, i had to listen to it a few times, but yeah, it rocks.

So in conclusion, i am waiting to listen to the whole album before i pass final judgment on either of these tracks, but if you need a fix before the album get the gun is good then wait for the full album to see were don't stop me fits(i bet its track 1)
